Anisa Abeytia didn't set out to build a company focused on healthcare AI. The idea that eventually became FourthSpace began as a project in her master's program and took her through humanitarian work around the world, where she saw firsthand what happens when technology designed with one set of assumptions meets the complexities of real people, cultures, and environments. Those experiences ultimately led Anisa to healthcare, where AI is rapidly changing how organizations interact with patients — and where getting the assumptions wrong can have significant consequences. In this talk, Anisa will share her path to becoming the Founder of FourthSpace and the experiences and lessons that shaped the company along the way. FourthSpace is an independent evaluation company focused on identifying risks in patient-facing healthcare AI before systems are deployed. Anisa will introduce four critical areas organizations should examine during development and some of the key questions teams should be asking before an AI system ever reaches a patient.
